My weight has been a struggle as far back as I can remember. I was a chubby child, who grew into a chubby teen, who then grew into a fat adult. I can never remember feeling comfortable with my weight, and can remember being teased from a young age on. As I got older the teasing stopped, but the damage was done. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of confidence, and feeling of self worth, however, my weight is a sensitive issue.
At the age of 25-26 I decided I NEEDED to change. Something clicked that time too in the brain. I was fully ready and made a complete diet change. I was strict with portion sizes and what I ate. I started off doing phase 1 of the South Beach diet as a kind of jump start. From there I allowed myself to eat whatever I wanted, but made sure that I always included a salad and that my portion sizes were small. I lost 80 pounds in a few months and this was purely through diet. With that being said, as the weight came off, I naturally wanted to be more active.
Well, then life happened. I suffered heart break, and decided, WHO THE EFF CARES?! I certainly didn't. I started a new desk job and the weight started creeping back up. A little at first, and then more and more. I just did not care. Of course, I did ultimately care, but I would only half heartedly try to make changes.
Let's fast forward to now, I'm 28, almost 29. I want so much to make a change and to be a healthier, fitter person. After lots of thought, I decided I am going to work with a personal trainer!!! She's awesome. Every week I get a menu I follow from her, I'm finishing up my first week today. I have worked out with her twice. These workouts were more of an assessment, lower body on Monday & upper body on Thursday. I have literally never been more sore in my life. Damn you UFCs!!! My legs are 75% better now, and I tell you what, Wednesday was the most sore I've ever been in my life. My arms were incredibly tired right after the workout, but thankfully it did not last long at all.
Now on to the good news. In one week I have lost 6 pounds. I am absolutely flabbergasted, and so excited at this progress I have been making. I get my cheat meal tomorrow, as well as starting my new menu. It's going to be amazing. I am going to do an update at least weekly on any changes I have noticed. I have to say this is the most excited I've been in quite some time. YAY!
