Ionix Supreme - You're meant to start your day with this. As soon as I had opened my package and got things put away, I mixed a scoop of the ionix supreme powder with some water, mixed it and drank. When I first opened it and smelled it, there was something so "fall" about it, but I couldn't put my finger on what was giving me that impression. Once I mixed it with water, I realized it smelled so much like apple cider, and I think that's where I was getting that sensation. Taste-wise it didn't have strong flavor when it first hits your tongue, but as you're swallowing, it does taste a bit like apple cider... And then this metallic/mineral taste hits your palette out of no where. That's the last taste you're left with. I'm not going to lie, this was hard to get down. I think part of it was that I was not hungry, nor was I thirsty and I forced myself to drink it down. I talked to my trainer about this, and she suggested to actually mix the powder with my protein shake in the morning, so that is what I will try tomorrow.
Isalean Shake in Creamy Dutch Chocolate - I made this the way I make my regular protein shakes. I stuff a bunch of spinach on the bottom of my blender, put 8 icecubes from a regular icecube tray, and then mix in just enough water where my blender can easily blend. First thing I noticed was it was much darker than any chocolate protein powder I've had before. As I was pouring it into my cup, I noticed the consistency was very thick as well. Upon first taste, it was not very strong, but then a chocolate flavor ended up being the after-taste I got. It's not bad by any means, but it's very thick and not very sweet. After drinking for a little while, I realized it tastes almost exactly like unsweetened cocoa powder (not quite as bitter though). I also want to mention that I made one serving size of it, but I had extra icecubes/water so it actually made 16 oz versus 8 oz. With that being said, 3/4th of the way I was feeling absolutely stuffed. I finished it because I knew I would be working out and needing that food, but it was tough because of how filling it is.
Isasnack (Vanilla) & Isadelight (Dark Chocolate) - The Isasnack was a lot better than I expected it to be. It tasted like a condensed version of a protein shake, in a tablet form. I did notice there was an interesting flavor within it, that I could not put my hands on. I looked over the ingredients, and I saw flax seed was listed. I'm pretty sure that is what I was tasting. I used to put ground flax seed in my smoothies, and though it doesn't greatly alter the flavor, it does change it just slightly. Isadelight in dark chocolate was not bad, but it wasn't my favorite either... I think part of it was due to the fact that the isasnack was surprisingly sweet, and the isadelight was not very sweet at all. It tasted like super bitter dark chocolate, 85% dark chocolate. So for people who don't like dark chocolate, or who don't like really bitter dark chocolate, I would probably order the milk chocolate version. I think for future orders, (if I do them), I will just order the milk chocolate instead.
Isalean Bar (Oatmeal Raisin and Chocolate Decadence) - I had half of each bar for my "low glycemic meal." I was under calories today, but I can handle that. The oatmeal raisin was tasty, but I definitely prefer the chocolate decadence. My favorite bar ever, (out of all the brands and flavors I've ever tried), is the Luna Iced Oatmeal Raisin, it's so flavorful and delicious. The Isalean bar was a milder version of it, so I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as jammed packed with flavor. The chocolate decadence had a layer on it that reminded me of frosting from a fudgy brownie, so I enjoyed that quite a bit.
My workout today was not high intensity, it ended up being a core circuit. I did not feel tired or fatigued at all. The moves I did were challenging, but I definitely feel like I had plenty of energy to put into it.
Surprisingly I felt full pretty much all day. I can only think of one time during the day that I felt a slight bit of hunger, but it was not bad at all. That was in between my low glycemic meal and when I finally had my "afternoon snack." I think if I actually ate the amount I was supposed to during my low glycemic meal, I probably would have been fine.
That's it for now, I'm a little more than half way through my last shake of the day. I am curious to see how I feel tomorrow. There will be an update in regards to how I feel.
